Ganzi is an important part of the Tibetan region, with its capital located in Kangding. Since the Song Dynasty, it has been an important place for the Han Tibetan “tea horse exchange”. The numerous scenic spots and cultural relics in Ganzi are also important tourism resources.
Ganzi Prefecture has Gongga Mountain, known as the “Top of Shu Mountains,” which is the eleventh highest peak in the world. The Hailuogou Glacier Forest Park in Ganzi Prefecture is renowned for its low altitude modern glaciers, as well as the world-famous Luding Tiesuo Bridge. Many villages and villages in Danba, Kangding, Yajiang and other counties have preserved many ancient stone built high towers, as well as the Tibetan cultural ancient city of Dege Yinjing Yuan, Kangding Paomashan and Mugecuo, among others. These are all famous scenic tourist areas in Ganzi Prefecture.
Ganzi Prefecture governs 18 counties (cities) including Kangding, Luding, Danba, Jiulong, Yajiang, Daofu, Luhuo, Ganzi, Xinlong, Dege, Baiyu, Shiqu, Seda, Litang, Batang, Xiangcheng, Daocheng, and Derong, 325 townships (towns), and 2679 administrative villages. The state capital is located in Kangding City.
